A couple more teaser frames from "The Busker"

I'm really liking the lighting in this project, and the set and character make it feel much more professional

What's going on

I know I haven't posted any new animations for about 6 months now. Aside from the usual summer lull where I'm normally too busy to animate I have been working on projects.

The first is a group project for my animation course at Bristol UWE. Its a 90 second stop motion piece that will be entered into DepicT film festival next year. After 6 weeks or so of pre production getting the animatic, set, and puppet just the way we wanted it we were able to start animating last week. It is titled "The Busker" and you can expect to see it a week or two after x-mas.

The other two pieces that I am planning are music videos for different musicians. The two are very different, one of which leans more towards the dubstep electro side, while the other is more of a fun acoustic guitar track. These two are less developed, but will probably take me a considerably shorter amount of time to create.

Busker Teaser

One of the first shots of my current project "The Busker"

Just over a week left of animation if everything goes to plan!... which it hardly ever does.

The Lamp

I really like the lights and shadows caused by the wandering lamp. Some of my shot choices were also very effective, and I think the whole thing fits the soundtrack very well.

I shot the majority of the animation and did all of the editing within one sleepless night due to a deadline. I was quite impressed that I had managed to get it all done within such a short time scale and keep the animation looking smooth, but looking back I could have finished it in a less abrupt fashion.

WASSUP!

This is a short but fun lip sync exercise I created after realising how satisfying it is to sync to voices.
I put very little thought into the characters, and simply shot it on my lightbox as I only wanted to worry about the lip sync. It took me about 2 hours overall, once I began I found it hard to stop and ended up having a bit of a knack for it by the end.

Animation Experimentation 2

The second installment of my animation experimentation. This one includes my first ever maya test (awful), some fun pixilation stuff, an interesting sand on glass test as well as lots of other surreal pieces. I also think I am the first person to utilise the Facebook photo album for a flip-book animation type thing.
I like how the animation drops from a chilled out Lemon Jelly soundtrack into a hard remix by Dirty Disco Youth and drags the visuals along with it.

Wrecking Finn's Room

We were bored, Finn's room was unlocked, We had a full recycling bin... the rest is history.
